Growing up in sunny Queensland and proudly half-Swiss, Dr. Jaime Hicks always had a deep love for animals. During her teenage years, volunteering at rescue shelters sparked something even stronger—a lifelong passion for animal welfare and medicine.
Since then, caring for pets and supporting the people who love them has been her calling. Dr. Jaime is devoted to helping pets live healthier, happier lives every day.
Dr. Jaime is particularly interested in Small Animal Internal Medicine, with a strong passion for neurology and a growing curiosity for diagnostic imaging.
During her university years, Dr. Jaime discovered just how much she loved learning. It wasn’t just about textbooks and lectures—it was a place that nurtured her ambition to become the very best vet she could be.
Her journey isn’t stopping here. Dr. Jaime hopes to study further through future internships and residency programs—continuing to grow, learn, and give pets the best care possible.
When she’s not at VetLand Hospital & Emergency, Dr. Jaime loves spending time with her cheeky little dog Luka. He’s a Tibetan Spaniel cross Poodle, fondly described as “20% cuddly bear, 80% little terror”—and 100% loved.
Their adventures together, from walks in the park to quiet moments at home, keep her grounded and remind her just how strong the bond between pets and people can be.
Originally from Queensland, and with a Swiss background, Dr. Jaime has a love for both the beach and the mountains. She enjoys exploring the outdoors, soaking up nature, and living an active, healthy lifestyle.
